WIP FailCast Librarian and Assault Squad WIP

Two WIP's for one blog post? I'm spoiling you haha.

First off I'd like to say how much I love the detail of my Librarian but there's one major issue with it that will become clear when you see it, it's something a few people have complained about.

Using the book as a storm shield, will be converted better eventually.

Bare in mind this isn't finished so be gentle in criticism. But what I wanted to point out is that massive bend in the staff. Like WTF, seriously, I was so happy till when I was putting it together and realized that it was like that. If you can tell me a way to sort it that would be greatly appreciated.

After that rant here's some Assault Marines I've had years that used to be black (which I soon found to be a pain to paint yellow over) and I'm trying to make look decent. They started as practice models, now I just want them finished haha.

You get the idea, no close ups of these as there rather terrible at the moment.

Well I hope you enjoyed the post and don't forget to follow and join in on the competition found here

  1. Happens all the time with Forgeworld stuff bloke. Boil the kettle, pour the boiling water over the staff and it will become soft, straighten it up and as you are still holding it straight, run it under the cold tap and it should set straight.

    If not, repeat the process.

    Looking good though, very Yellow!

  2. INCREDIBLY EASY TO FIX.
Nuke some water in the microwave, almost to boiling. Put the model inside, leave it for a while. Not too long. Take it out. Bend the staff gently.
Resin is pretty malleable when hot, just like iron.

  3. Return the model to your local store and they should give you a replacement bit. They make take the whole model though. Any finecast models should be open at the store as they can quickly sort out any problems. My local GW store is having to open 3 models sometimes in order to make one proper one.

  4. If you put the staff in warm water (not boiling, but not lukewarm either), for twenty or thirty seconds, you should be able to bend it back to the position you want. Then put it into cold water to 'freeze' it in that position.
