Yet Another 1500 Point Necron List ...

Despite the lack of joy in the title I am enjoying writing these very much. I just assume you guys are sick of it by now.

Of all the lists I've been playing around with for this points level I think I like this one best as it has alot of guns that can hurt. Whether I'm right on that point remains to be seen but from what I gather I'm fairly confident this would do well. I'm not sure what it is though but I feel myself limited when writing 1500 point lists with these guys, it could possibly be that the things they do have are fairly expensive points wise. I think though that I have done a good job.

HQ

Overlord w/ Warscythe - 100

Command Barge - 80

Royal Court
Cryptek Harbringer of Destruction - Solar Pulse - 55
Cryptek Harbringer of Destruction - 35

Troops

Immortals x 10 - 170

Warriors x 9 -232 Ghost Ark

Immortals x 9 - 153

Fast Attack

3 x Heavy Destroyers - 185

9 x Scarabs - 135

Heavy Support

Annihilation Barge - 90

Annihilation Barge - 90

Doom Scythe - 175

I thought that I lacked ranged AT weaponry which is why I implemented the Doom Scythes and Heavy Destroyers. I really do like the look of the Doom Scythe and really look forward to playing with it, the Death Ray sounds silly but it also sounds fun. Tesla is one of my favourite things in the Codex so lots of that makes me very happy. The only other thing I may do with a list is trying to fit in a Monolith, sadly this may have to replace the Doom Scythe =[ unless you have advice on what I could do to fit it in?

If you have written lists I really want to see them so either post a link to where you have written them or just write them out in the comment section. It's not that I need inspiration I'm just really enjoying everyones different take on it.

Your opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Initial 1500 point Necron List

This is just with looking at the Codex for a day and playing around with ideas but I think this is a fairly efficient 1500 point list and being that this is the points cost the game is designed for according to the rules and being that in the UK it seems that this is the most practised I thought I'd try it out.

HQ

Overlord w/ Warscythe - 100

Royal Court
Cryptek Harbringer of Destruction - 35 x 3

This seems like a fairly reasonable choice to me.

Troops

Immortals x 10 - 170

Immortals x 10 - 170

Warriors x 10 -130

Warriors x 10 w/Ghost Ark - 245

This can be up for debate really but I don't think it is necessary to have more than one transport for my troops and a Ghost Ark seemed a good option considering Quantum Shielding. I may well even remove it for something else though to be far to get in another Cryptek for that squad and use the rest of the points elsewhere.

Fast Attack

Canoptek Wraiths x 5 - 175

Canoptek Scarabs x 5 - 75

Wraiths are a no brainer in my opinion, they are a beastly unit and give the army a great CC punch. The Scarabs are also extremely useful and the reason for only five shall become clear.

Heavy Support

Canoptek Spyder x 3 - 150

Annihilation Barge - 90

Annihilation Barge - 90

The Annihilation Barge has a fantastic weapon and is dirt cheap so I had to take those. The Canoptek Spyders give me more Scarabs until a 1 is rolled but then also even if a 1 is rolled they still spawn one more. Having three of these gives me a near enough guaranteed 3 more which I like also gives me more CC.

Overall I think I have a nice selection of shooting and CC elements in this list. I will try and review when I have spent a little more time on it and I possibly will completely rip it apart but that remains to be seen. But until then please give your thoughts in the comments section. What you think I lack or have done wrong etc or whether you think it is in fact a good list.

This was thrown together rather quick so please don't be to harsh with your judgement haha.

Thanks,

The Evolution Of An Army List

I'd like to start by saying I've been pretty sick recently so I haven't done much in the way of anything constructive past week or so which explains my lack of posts. Though I'm pleased to announce I am fit as a fiddle once more and got back to painting today after tying up what it was I intended to build for my list.

So expect more pictures of my work soon as I'll make the effort to crack some stuff out before I go away to Games Day and Warhammer World possibly. Both of which I shall be taking alot of pictures of for you to enjoy.

To the subject of this post.

Before I felt ill I built a fair few army lists and had alot of help from people in the community for which I am grateful. I then proceeded to tweak these lists till I was happy. Then I bought them up on forums and further tweaking ensued.

Then I bought it up again and more tweaking.

Now I'm finally done haha. Apart from very minor things I shall maybe change I have the core of my 1500 point list that I was aiming for.

What I found interesting is how involved I got in just building the list. It fascinated me how frustrated I got with myself over something minor like a wrong points cost haha. I think I may have taken it a little to seriously.

In the end I came out with something that isn't super competitive and does hold true to the Imperial Fist way while being at least slightly competitive as would happen when you visit forums haha.

I got it down to two lists in the end the first one being my main choice and the second being another idea.

Both of which I'm fairly happy with

List 1

Libby - 140 Terminator Armour Storm Shield

7 Sternguard - 235
2 Combi Melta
2 Combi Flamers
Drop Pod

Rifleman Dreadnought - 125
Rifleman Dreadnought - 125

Tactical Squad – 230
Power Fist
Flamer
Missile Launcher
Rhino

Tactical Squad – 240
Power Fist
Meltagun
Lascannon
Rhino

Combat Squad - 165
Razorback Las/Plas or Las or Assault Cannon

Vindi - 120 w/dozer blade

Vindi - 120 w/dozer blade

List 2

Librarian Cestus - 100 points
Space Marine Librarian with Null Zone and The Avenger.

ELITE
Ancient Torian - 125 points
Dreadnought with two twin-linked autocannons.

Ancient Rokan - 125 points
Dreadnought with two twin-linked autcannons

5 man Sternguard Power Fist 3 x Combi-Melta 2 x Combi Flamer in a Razorback w/Heavy Bolter - 215

TROOPS
Squad Vendetta - 240 points
10 Space Marines with Flamer, Missile Launcher, Sergeant with Power Fist Combi-Flamer , mounted in Rhino

Squad Vengeance - 245 points
10 Space Marines with Melta, Missile Launcher, Sergeant with Power Fist Combi-Melta, mounted in Rhino

FAST ATTACK
Deathwind Squadron - 210 points
3 Land Speeders with multi-melta and heavy flamer.

Deployed Seperately

HEAVY SUPPORT
Annihalatum - 120 points
Vindicator with dozer blade.

Crucible - 120 points
Vindicator with dozer blade.

*EDIT*

List 3

Libby - 100

5 Sternguard - 185
2 Combi Melta
2 Combi Flamers
Rhino

Rifleman Dreadnought - 125
Rifleman Dreadnought - 125

Tactical Squad – 230
Power Fist
Flamer
Missile Launcher
Rhino

Tactical Squad – 235
Power Fist
Meltagun
Multi Melta
Rhino

Combat Squad - 165
Razorback Las/Plas or Las or Assault Cannon

Vindi - 120 w/dozer

Vindi - 120 w/dozer

Thunderfire Cannon - 100

As said I like both but I think the first one tipped the balance for me purely because I can easily make that out of most of what I have on me already. The one thing I may change in List 1 is drop the dozer blades from the Vindis to give a second las to the tacticals and for List 2 I'd swap the Razorback with one of the Tactical Squads.

I guess what always limits me is my lack of funds and not wanting to sell everything I already have and starting over haha.

I'm just interested what you go through when you make a list? This question is to the newbies and the veterans as I'd like to know how you go about it.

Thanks!

Just One Drop Pod???

So I thought about my list and what I could do to make it have some more Imperial Fist elements to it. I figured I really do need to take Lysander. He is a fun character regardless of points and such. So then I thought what to put him with? Well as I was going to build them anyway Sternguard seemed a good option. Now how are they getting around? Well this is the interesting thing. I thought that maybe a Drop Pod of 9 Sternguard and Lysander gives the squad survivability because Lysanders in it, gives them assault capabilities because Lysanders in it, makes there bolters that little more scary because....I'll stop there.

The only thing is when I was building the rest of it I thought that considering what models I have currently I could build a list with just one that may be effective.

So I gave it a go.

Lysander - 200

9 Sternguard w/ 2 x Combi Melta 2 x Combi Flamer w/Drop Pod - 285

10 man Tactical Squad w/power fist, melta and missile launcher Rhino - 235

10 man Tactical Squad w/power fist, flamer and missile launcher Rhino - 230

10 Scouts - missile launcher,  sniper rifles, 150

2 x 1 Land Speeder - multi-melta, heavy flamer 150

Vindicator x2 w/siege shields- 250

To me sounds like a fun list that suits what I feel is an Imperial Fist army roster.

Vindicators can put holes in the enemy but you can't just take one you have to take two.

The one thing I could change is reducing the Scout Squad and sticking camo cloaks on them and getting another regular speeder to fill out there squad a little.

I also have not and refuse to put this past forums as it always usually comes back to 'well that's not competitive' -_-

But that's a completely different matter!

Please give me your feedback as always.

Edit: I also found an Imperial Fist sample GW list that I played around with and came up with this.

HQ
Librarian Cestus - 100 points
Space Marine Librarian with The Gate of Infinity and The Avenger.

ELITE
Ancient Torian - 125 points
Dreadnought with two twin-linked autocannons.

Ancient Rokan - 125 points
Dreadnought with two twin-linked autcannons

TROOPS
Combat Squad Vendetta - 270 points
10 Space Marines with Flamer, Missile Launcher, Sergeant with Power Fist, mounted in Razorback with twin-linked lascannons.

Combat Squad Vengeance - 275 points
10 Space Marines with Melta, Missile Launcher, Sergeant with Power Fist, mounted in Razorback with twin-linked lascannons.

Combat Squad Viagra - 155
5 Space Marines Sergeant with Power Fist mounted in a Razorback with twin linked heavy bolters

FAST ATTACK
Deathwind Squadron - 210 points
3 Land Speeders with multi-melta and heavy flamer.

HEAVY SUPPORT
Annihalatum - 120 points
Vindicator with dozer blade.

Crucible - 120 points
Vindicator with dozer blade.

10 points if you see one rather entertaining change I made.

Thanks!

Librarian, Chaplain Or Lysander...

Right well after having asking alot around the web about my list building I have come up with a fair few along the way.

The main decisions are mainly based around the three characters I mentioned.

Also another big factor is whether I should take the Land Raider but we shall get to that.

So here is a bunch of 1500 point lists for you to give advice over.

First up a Chaplain list.

HQ
Terminator Chaplain - 130

Elites
Assault Terminaters - w/ Land Raider w/multi melta- 460

Dreadnought w/Twin linked autocannon - 125

Troops
10 man Tactical Squad w/power fist, melta and missile launcher
Combat squad for Las Razorback - 275

10 man Tactical Squad w/power fist, flamer and missile launcher
Combat squad for Las Razorback - 270

Heavy Support
2 x pred w/autocannon las- 240

Next we have a Librarian list

HQ

Terminator Librarian with Storm Shield - 140 GOI and Null Zone

Elites
Assault Terminaters - w/ Land Raider - 450

Dreadnought w/2 x Twin linked Autocannons - 125

Troops
10 man Tactical Squad w/power fist, melta and missile launcher
Combat squad for Las Razorback - 275

10 man Tactical Squad w/power fist, flamer and missile launcher
Combat squad for Las Razorback - 270

Heavy Support
2 x Predator w/autocannon las- 240

And finally the Lysander list

HQ
Lysander-200

Elites
Assault Terminaters - w/ Land Raider - 450

Dreadnought w/Twin linked Las - 135

Troops
Tactical Squad w/Power Fist, Melta, Multi Melta w/ Rhino - 235

Tactical Squad w/Power Fist, Flamer, Missile Launcher w/ Rhino - 230

2 x Predator w/autocannon las- 240

Now the thing I find about these lists is that you have this massive target, the Land Raider at such a small point game. I've played a hand full of games and the one game I saw someone use a Land Raider it got shot at alot.
This could be a good thing or a bad thing. Depending on what they are packing of course. But with all the anti tank out there I cant see it working. Unless you think differently?

I do however like the Librarian and the Chaplain lists for different reasons. With the Chaplain list I get a Land Raider with some re-rolling thunder hammers and a multi melta on top of that. With the Librarian list I get GOI in case my transport goes bye bye and I get psychic defence.

Priority Target?

Then we get to the Lysander list. It lacks alot of firepower. Nice idea but I don't think it'd work.

I also have the question of which flavour Land Raider to take? If I take the standard one I get a couple extra Lascannon shots, if I take the Redeemer I get some good anti-infantry and if I take the Crusader I can squeeze in a Lascannon for one of the Combat Squaded Tactical Squads.

I have also built lists which don't include the Land Raiders and instead capitalise on more bodies and firepower. But if you think one of these are viable I'd be happy to build them. I did want to use Vindicators but I think they must just get shot up quicker than the Land Raider and figure Predator's fit Imperial Fists fluff just aswell.

If you don't like the lists I'll just go with the other ones and decide from there and not bother you with this anymore haha.

This is the list that would be my alternative

Pedro - 175

5 man Sternguard 2 x combi melta 2 x combi flamer 1x power fist- w/rhino - 180

Dread w/twin linked las - 135

Dread w/2 x tl autocannon - 125

10 man Tactical Squad w/power fist, flamer and missile launcher Razorback - 270

10 man Tactical Squad w/power fist, melta and missile launcher squad Razorback - 275

Scout Squad w/missile launcher w/camo cloaks - 100

2 x pred - 240

I was thinking that maybe I could replace the scouts for two cheap melta attack bikes especially considering with pedro making the sternguard scoring.

(I doubt I'll get any replies with the new Space Marine game out haha)

Thanks!

Thanks For The List Help....

I just wanted to say a massive tanks to Fourth Company Librarium who helped me out by posting a couple of 1500 point lists for me.

It was a great help and I really appreciate it. I took his second list that he gave me and messed around with it a little.

This was the original list

Lysander- 200

5 Assault Terminators w/ thunder hammers and storm shields- 200

Land Raider Redeemer w/ multi-melta- 250

Tactical squad w/ meltagun, lascannon, combi-melta, power fist, and Razorback w/ twin-linked lascannons- 295

Tactical squad w/ power fist, combi-melta, and Razorback w/ twin-linked lascannons- 200

Predators w/ autocannon turrets and lascannon sponsons- 120

Predators w/ autocannon turrets and lascannon sponsons- 120

Vindicator- 115

I really do like this list as it does capture the weapon heavy feel of the Imperial Fists.

The only thing that worried me was the lack of troops, which he himself said may be a problem, so I messed around a little and came up with this.

HQ

Lysander- 200

Elites

5 Assault Terminators w/ thunder hammers and storm shields- 200

Dreadnought w/ twin linked las - 135

Troops

Tactical squad w/ power fist, combi-melta, melta, multi-melta w/ Rhino - 235

Tactical squad w/ power fist, melta and missile launcher w/ Rhino 235

Heavy Support

Land Raider Crusader - 250

Predator w/autocannon and las sponson - 120

Vindicator - 115

I'd be interested in what he thinks of this as well as you guys. The reason I changed the Land Raider is I wanted more infantry killyness and why I changed the troops I'd like to have at least 2 full squads for scoring.

General tactic is the same as Fourth Company Librarium put it, hang back as there is lots of firepower and wait for the enemy to come to me, once they advance counter-punch with the Terminators and Vindicator. This part is straight from the post, against very shooty armies use all your shooting to cover the advance of the Land Raider. The Terminators should tear through most shooty armies.

This sounds like a very fun list to me.

I'd really like to hear your input.

Thanks!

Building Custom Sternguard and Finished List

So as the title says I'm going to build some custom Sternguard partly because I want 10 and I dont wan't to buy two boxes of the same marines for ridiculously expensive and partly because it'll be fun.

I have already begun by building my sergeant with power fist and combi melta which looks pretty badass. Though the way I did the combi melta meant I lost the barrel for the bolter which really sucks =[ but hopefully I shall be able to amend that without to much more butchery.

I already have enough bits to begin but I'm more than likely going to buy a couple of combat squad boxsets and mess around with those for the rest.

So theres that to look forward to.

On to my list and alot of comments later it's completely different to what I started with haha.

HQ

Lysander - 200

Elites

10 man Sternguard 2 x combi melta 2 x combi flamer 1x power fist- 295 w/drop pod - 35

Ironclad Dread - 135 w/drop pod - 35

Dread w/ las - 135

Troops

*10 man tac squads 1 x melta 1 x multi melta - 185 w/drop pod - 35 * edit
* 10 man tac squad 1 x flamer 1 x lascannon - 180 w/ rhino - 35 * edit

Heavy Support

2 x Vindicators - 230

1500

I think this is my favorite list I've written so far, fairly good gun line, fairly good scoring options and pretty good in your face power.

Very fun.

I promise no more lists for awhile haha.

Thanks for helping me out guys!

*EDIT*

Due to dropping 10 points from not combat squading the rhino squad I stuck a lascannon in there for good measure. I didn't realise that combat squading them would make me drop weapons so I've amended that. I now realise I have to combat squad them when they get out of the drop pod, does this mean they should be shown in points as (as I have done) being a combat squad? I've gotten myself very confused haha. I'm not making another post so hopefully someone reads this haha.

Opinion On This Unit: Ironclad Dreadnought

So if you have been reading I've played around with lists last couple of days and I have come up with this.

HQ

Lysander - 200

Elites

10 man Sternguard 2x Combi-Melta 1 x Power Fist - 285 w/ Drop Pod

Ironclad Dreadnought - 135 w/ Drop Pod

Troops

10 manTactical Squad w/ Melta and ML - 175 w/ Rhino 35

10 man Tactical Squad w/ Flamer and ML - 170 w/ Rhino 35

Heavy Support

Predator w/ Las and Las spons - 165

Vindicator - 115

Vindicator - 115

1500

My way of thinking is drop pod the 10 man sternguard and Lysander off and bolter drill the hell out of everything and drop pod the ironclad and wreck alot.

New Friend?

This only came to me when I was putting my list together and had extra points that I wondered where to put them. Figured two drop pods of killyness on turn one would be pretty sweet.

So what I wanted to ask is have you ever used an Ironclad or had one used on you? I just thought for 135 points its a pretty mean wrecking ball.

I mean the seismic hammer +1 to roll on vehicle damage chart is pretty nice and the front and rear armer boost is pretty sweet. Along with built in melta and storm bolter and move through cover you can't argue with it really.

Whats your thoughts on it?

I think I may have this as a regular thing of units I don't use to hear your opinion on them.

Anyways give me your feedback please.

Thanks!

Advice:Army List 2....Getting Tedious Yet?

So after further messing around with the list I have come up with this, it means a few purchases but hopefully I can sell a couple of things to pay for it (maybe my left arm, the right is far to precious).

HQ

Lysander - 200

Elites

Terminators 3 x THSS 2x LC - 200

Sternguard 1x Combi-Melta 1 x Power Fist - 155 w/ Drop Pod w/ Locator Beacon 45

Dreadnought Lascannon CC - 135

Troops

Tactical Squad w/ Melta and Las -  185 w/ Rhino 35

Tactical Squad w/ Flamer and Las - 180 w/ Rhino 35

Scouts w/ Snipers and 1 x Missile Launcher - 85

Heavy Support

Predator w/ Autocannon and Las spons - 120

Vindicator - 115

1,490

That leaves me with 10 to play with for a 1500 point game which I could waste on bringing in a plasma gun to replace the flamer?

Generally though I like this list, I can drop the Sternguard and Lysander to wreak havoc with bolter drill and deep strike my termies near by so they can also wreak some havoc.

I mean by all means tell me if this list sounds stupid but I think it's not to bad.

Thanks guys!
