Forge World News:Minotaur's Characters and Rapier Laser Destructor
Got the newsletter and once again loved what I see and am very jealous of people doing Minotaurs, wish they did me some Crimson Fist characters.
The Rapier Laser Destructor looks awesome and I was talking about getting a stand-in for a Thunderfire Cannon and this is very tempting. I may just wait till (fingers crossed) they release it in either plastic or finecast, plastic preferably. Also I noticed that this is from Rogue Trader days so I'm sure the old school guys will be jumping on this.

So I Won Some Grey Knights
As the title states I recently got through the post a package sent by the NoobHammer podcast which I won through there twitter followers giveaway. Being that I 'never' win anything I was really ecstatic when I heard I'd won and couldn't care less if it was a wet towel tied to a stick but was really happy with what I got and thought I'd show you.
As you can see the quality is fantastic and I'm glad to see no damage has been done even after the lengthy travel from the U.S.A.
I have been looking through the Grey Knights codex and realised that these were Interceptors and then thought about how they could be used if I were to make a Grey Knights force which after seeing these I am very tempted and I couldn't not play these guys. So I'm thinking about how I could use them but I'm pretty sure I'd use them in reserve to come on and cause some trouble. The great thing I can see about them is how far they can travel, there personal teleporters should be fun.
Obe last plug for http://www.noobhammer.com/ they are great podcast and are one of my favourites out of the many podcasts I listen to be sure to check them out.

Games Workshop Makes The News
Many of you may have already seen this but I thought I would share this.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-17274186
If you first of all watch the video it shows a very brief outlook of a game of Warhammer 40k from a fan. This doesn't really say much at all.
The article at first just gives and overview of all that GW is which all of you already know I should imagine so also not very interesting but nice to see all the same.
One thing I noticed that I really didn't appreciate it is of all the painted miniatures they managed to pick some really poorly painted ones. I know I'm not the best painter in the world and not claiming to be but every time I visit my local GW I see kids painting painting better than some of what is shown. Just bothered me by not really showing it at it's 'best' I guess.
Now we come to the end of the article that shows two fans of the game complaining about the cost of the hobby. This was going to be inevitable and was interested to read on about this. This I find interesting 'Several players say they feel exploited. "You need at least £200 just to set up a half-decent legal army for a game, and if you want a board and scenery to go to play with friends you're looking at least £200 on top of that," says Craig Lowdon, 25, of Crewe' I think it's more than that if you consider not playing more than say 1000 points unless you ebay it of course.
Then they asked Chief Executive Officer Mark Wells about his opinion on the accusations of 'price exploitation' this is what he said 'That would go against everything we stand for. It's just not in our nature' really? Interesting....
This is the end of the article which pretty much sums it up I think '"[There's] the satisfaction of looking at ranks of badly-daubed Skaven (man-sized anthropomorphic rats) and knowing they're yours and you made them in a real way," says Kieron Gillen.

Forge World New Release:Chaos Decimator Daemon Engine
Just got the newsletter through and wow! Just wow! This thing looks absolutely fantastic!
It has a very good Chaos look to it but not to much which I like, kinda looks like a mini titan.
The price also I think is fairly reasonable when you consider the size of it (pictured below) the price being £35 for the body.
Me wants....
Personally Dreadnoughts are one of my favourite things in 40k and when Forge World released the Contemptor I thought that was excellent and then they released the Relic version which I thought looked even sweeter and now they release this and I think this tops it personally. The design is excellent and they have out done themselves once again.

150+ Followers Giveaway
So without my realising I have hit a rather awesome milestone which I'm really happy about. I never expected to get as much attention as I have gotten and I appreciate everyone of you. I've been trying to think of what to give as a prize and came to the conclusion that £15 from Wayland Games would work. I get around 90% of my stuff from there and I know that not all of you like/want GW stuff and because of that I thought I'd choose somewhere you'd have a little freedom to choose.
So just so it's clear that's one thing worth up to £15 from Wayland Games obviously delivery not included.
So how do you enter?
Well I'll show you....

My Shiny New Resin Bases...
So I've been waiting awhile but I finally picked up some resin bases for my Imperial Fist army to really finish off what I have painted.
The ones I picked up are reasonably cheap I think for resin bases and are great quality in my opinion.
Check 'em out
This is just what I had out at the time the rest are in the wash.
What I ended up buying was 30 25mm bases, 5 40mm and 3 60mm bases. This all came to around £20 which I think is really good for what I got.
Link to ebay store I purchased them from
If you want specific links just ask.
My only real problem now is how do I paint them? Generally I think I'm going for the grey mixes for the rubble/ground and dirt/rusty metals but I want to try and spice it up a little. Any suggestions? Also if you have any tutorials for rusty/dirty metal please point them out.
One last thing I have added a chatbox to the sidebar so get chattin! Maybe give me some tips for my bases on there?

Thanks

Which 40k Army Do You Want Next?
So as it is a release of a WFB army today in the way of the Vampire Counts I tough to myself about all the rumours I've seen circling the blogosphere recently about the next armies coming. Thearmies that seem to be next for release are Black Templars, the Tau, Chaos and Eldar. Now my question to you is which would you rather see hitting the shelves next?
I think what most excites me about coming release is the quality in miniatures seems to be getting better. I'm not saying quality in production, Finecast being a major fail in some cases but seems to be passing now which is great, but the designs and actual product seem to be just getting better with every release. Dark Eldar for example have a fantastic range now I think and the miniatures are great. I really do look forward to any models from any of those armies just to see how they turn out. The release schedule seems to be pretty all over the place with the latest one I saw was that Eldar were to be next with 6th edition (seemingly the only thing with a solid release period of around june/july) after them. I find this interesting being that most of the rumours have been mainly Tau and Black Templar related. But I think they would be choice for release next as I love the Eldar range and would love to see it get an update and with the fluff of 4k going the way it is I would love to see Eldar then 6th then obviously Codex Space Marines the Chaos to see how the story goes.
The only thing that worries me is that I'm gonna turn into a 'ooo look at the shiny new Codex' kinda person haha. I haven't even properly started my Necrons and I'm still looking at the rumours thinking 'Oh I might start a Chaos or Eldar army when they are released' haha. I'm going to try and resist and get through what I have and then start my next one. My aim I think is to get a 2000 point army painted for both my Imperial Fists and my Necrons before I move on to the next thing haha.
One think I will finish with is how do you think these Codices are gonna look in a competitve standpoint? With Necrons I think you have a good balanced Codex that brings up some exciting things do you hope for another Necron Codex for these releases or would you prefer the more 'broken' Grey Knights? More than likely if it is your chosen army you would like the latter but I think the Necron Codex is competitive enough and fun enough to be a good thing for all new releases. Let it be known that I am still a noob and anything I say about competitive should be taken lightly as I don't know much about what I am talking about but am just making an observation. Anyone who knows what they are talking about please correct me if I am wrong.
So which would you like to see next? Will you jumping on any of these releases?
Let me know and thanks for reading.

Whats On Your Xmas List....
So with Xmas only a few days away I thought I'd ask what you were looking forward to getting?
Maybe it's an opportunity to start that Necron Army?
Maybe it's a chance to get some resin crack from Forge World?
Let me know what you've asked for and what your hoping for.
On another note what's your opinion on this years GW xmas release? The army sets looked pretty nice to be honest. The Space Marine boxset actually looked pretty good. And how about the Eavy Metal Brush Set and the Mega Paint Set?
For me it's a chance to get a start on my Necrons with only Warriors at this moment in time....
Also possibly add to my Space Marines....
We shall see....
I have a few pictures to take but the misses has taken the camera to her parents for Xmas unfortunately.
Thanks for reading.....

New Addition To The Podcast List
So I was listening to the 11th Company earlier and heard about noobhammer.
Naturally I thought immediately this podcast needs to be here.
I'm yet to listen to them but I look forward to and hopefully you will check them out also.
It sounds like it would be a break from tournament list talk which is the predominate talk of the podcasts.
Thanks.

New Bitspudlo Alternative Necron Products
Once again our friends over at bitspudlo.com have released and are going to release a couple of cool looking Necron alternatives for you who need/can't wait for the model.
First up are the scheduled for release soon Scarabs (I will update you with when if your interested)
If the pricing of there previous products are anything to go by expect these to be really reasonable and I'm fairly positive I shall be purchasing from them as soon as they release.
Then we move onto what is released which I'm really interested about, there alternative Triarch Stalker.
No Necron seated in the cockpit (for obvious reasons) but that is easily fixed and you can't argue this looks pretty menacing. This is really a case of if you can wait or you really need one and your scratchbuilding skills aren't upto par (much like myself). Personally I love it let me know what you think.
If your interested in this heres the link to it. Reasonable pricing once again I feel considering the fact it is made from resin.
Thank you Bitspudlo for releasing a great looking product once again.
Thanks for reading.

In Need Of Writers
So as I have realised I shall be very busy for at least another 8 weeks and won't have a bunch of time to write on here so I thought I would ask if anyone would be interested in becoming an author and writing on here on a temporary/permanent basis (either way would be excellent). The only thing I ask is that whatever you want to write is 40k related.
If you are interested leave a comment or contact me through any of the ways on the Contact section.

New Feature:40k Podcast Feed Added
So I regularly listen to podcasts, especially when I paint or put things together. So I thought maybe I can add all the podcasts I listen to on here so it, not only helps me keep updated, but helps you guys have somewhere to come and find the most recent post from any of the really cool 40k podcasts.
Have a look and let me know what ones, if any, I have missed. If there's any you want added by all means tell me.
I will say I do really recommend the past episode of the Overlords. They have part 1 of there review the Necron Codex and also Gav Thorpe is interviewed and is asked about what he wants to go into room 40001. It's a great episode and Gav is a great bloke.
Thanks,

How Do You Take Your Models Picture?
So recently I've been wanting to take pictures of the stuff I've been painting up but can't because I have no set up to do so any more. What I was hoping was that any of you guys could help me find a light box or something similar to use for taking the pictures.
Or tell me what you use to take your pictures? I see some great pictures from you guys and just want to try an emulate that here.
If you know of anywhere cheap to get something I can use please know that I'm in the UK so if it requires shipping etc think of that also.
Any help you guys can give would be greatly appreciated as I want to increase the quality of what I put out.
Thanks,
Warflake Out.
